Knowledge exchange and collaboration for future dementia care
November 12, 2025
Today, our REAL AD team had the privilege of participating in the meeting with the Regional Process Team for Cognitive Impairment in Suspected Dementia, an initiative within the National Program Area (NPO) for Older Adultsโ Health and Palliative Care. It was a highly valuable meeting that once again demonstrated how collaboration between primary care, specialist care, academia, and family representatives is key to transforming innovation and research into real patient benefit.
The process team, which was established in 2021, consists of representatives from municipal and regional primary care, specialist care, and family members. Their work focuses on strengthening person-centered care, coordination, and team assessments in healthcare, with the goal of increasing security for patients and their relatives, improving the quality of assessments and treatments, and streamlining care pathways.
One of the goals of the REAL AD study is to provide healthcare with practical and scalable tools that can improve the prognosis for people with Alzheimerโs disease and create a sustainable strategy for future dementia assessments. In light of recent advances in drug development, this work is becoming increasingly relevant. Future treatments require that we build the infrastructure and expertise now to enable early and equitable diagnostics across the entire care chain.
Overall, it was an inspiring discussion and an important step toward more cohesive, innovative, and forward-looking dementia care.
